"Didn't Work At All For Me" 2009-08-28
By William W. Smith (Basking Ridge, NJ USA)
I have an aftermarket iPod input adapter that connects to an unused disc changer interface in my trunk. It worked fine for my iPods, but of course it would not charge my iPhone 3GS. I bought this charger adapter at the Apple Store and plugged it in right away. My iPhone threw up an error message and then spontaneously rebooted over and over. I went back to the store and got a replacement. Same result. I conclude that this device does something that makes it incompatible with the kind of iPhone adapter I have. I would recommend only getting this device at a retail store where you can return it easily, rather than here.

From Amazon, I then ordered a Griffin device that claims to do the same thing. It works perfectly, so if you have a choice you might want to try the Griffin first.

"Does not charge iphone 3gs BUMMER..." 2009-08-27
By R. Hutchins (Danbury, Ct)
I thought I had found the solution to charging my iphone 3gs while listening to music/podcasts on long drives. Does not work with 3gs, no charging occurs. Still searching for an adapter to allow charging and playing with my mini clubman.

"Overally OKAY, but high pitched noise is very annoying" 2009-08-27
By Kimberly A. Reardon (Southern California)
I have a 2006 Scion xA, and one of the main reasons I purchased the car is because of the direct iPod connector that works through the head unit. When I purchased my new iPhone 3GS, I was very disappointed to find out that it was not supported to charge in my Scion. I did some research on the Apple iPhone forums, and came across this product that would somewhat fix my problem. The Griffin adapter was originally what I wanted to get, but I couldn't find it anywhere online or in stores, and Griffin themselves was out of stock. So I decided to purchase Scosche Charging Adapter and the product works, but I have a few gripes. I love the way that this product allows me to listen to my iPhone in my car through my head unit, and I can also use some of my Apps to play music like Pandora Radio (I have to used the controls on the phone to work Pandora though). Everytime I plug into my car radio, my phone asks me if I would like to put the phone in airplane mode, which is quite annoying. Another pro is that although my car is not set up for me to talk on my phone through the radio, I can still answer calls through my headset while the unit is plugged in. One of the major con is that there is a very high pitched noise that comes on in the background after using the adapter for a few minutes, and I haven't been able to resolve it. I've tried unplugging my iPhone and plugging it back in, but it didn't fix the problem. Also, this charger seems to give my phone less of a charge than the wall one does. It will charge my phone to 100%, but it doesn't last as long. Overall, I like the product when the high-pitched beep isn't on in the background, and would tell people to do their research before purchasing this product or anyone like it.

 "Marketing vs. truth" 2009-08-23
By Spike72 (San Antonio, TX USA)
I really wanted this to do the job. But it doesn't.

My 2006 Acura TSX has a factory installed iPod adapter which connects to the head unit of the stereo (non-Nav). It worked great - perfect sound, controls from steering wheel, automatically stops when switching to blue-tooth phone call. Then I got an iphone 3G. Of course it doesn't work. So I was forced to use the AUX input and have used several different power plugs. All of the power plugs created the alternator whine. This was tolerable for audiobooks or podcasts, but you couldn't listen to music that way. Strangely, if I used headphones, the whine did not come through.

I had read all the reviews on this page for the Scosche adapter and decided to try it. I was in the Apple store and they had the unit and I asked the "expert" if it would do what I needed. He assured me it would and that I could return it if it failed. I took it right to my car and plugged it in. Immediately got the nag screen which quickly went away. It did charge the battery, but nothing came through the stereo. In fact, it played through the phone's speaker, so it's clear that there was not connection with the data transport part of the dock. Right back in the Apple store for a refund.

Bottom line - this device is marketed by claiming it will return your capability to what it was before you upgraded to a modern ipod or iphone. It will not do that. However, it may decrease the whine you get using you AUX input.

My gripe is that there are a lot of folks involved in integrating the new players the cars. It seems to me that either the power adapter folks, the AUX line folks or Apple itself should have seen this coming and fixed it rather than forcing us to buy one more cable or adapter to correct something that the engineers should have accounted for in the first place.

 "Functions don't work on iPhone 3G" 2009-08-20
By Mark (Seattle, WA)
OK, if I had really dug around I would have noticed this before purchasing -- the volume controls don't work with the iPhone 3G (and according to the Apple page I have since discovered, neither does the mic input).

So it's more or less useless to me since the mic and volume control are the two useful features of having a headset with my iphone (I use it to listen to music on the bus, answer phone calls while walking, etc). This seems to be the standard Apple iPhone headset, at least that's available via Amazon -- yet its key features don't work for the largest portion of iPhone users?!

Stupid move by Apple. Avoid if you have a 3G. I know it's at the end of the details about the headset, but I'm sure that I'm not the only one who might guess that the remote and mic might actually work on "Apple Earphones with Remote & Mic"

 "Works Great" 2009-07-30
By Patrick Tulskie
I'm a big fan of the earbuds that Apple puts out. They work great with my iPod and my Blackberry so when I need to switch over I just unplug one device and plug in the other. Sound is great for $30 headphones and they have a mic. I'm only giving them 4 stars because they have a tendency to break more frequently than I'd like. I go through a set every few months but I do use them every day when commuting to/from NYC and in the office.

"OEM one but works like a charm" 2009-07-26

I ordered it thinking it was a geniune Apple headphone. When it arrived, I was surprised to see an OEM version of it. However, I did not find any issues with the headset or microphone. It works like a charm on my 2nd gen ipod touch.

 "Best headphones I've tried" 2009-07-26
By Jeffery Suddeth (Wheaton, IL USA)
I've gone through about a dozen sets of headphones with my iPod and I hadn't found any that were as good as the set that came with the iPod. I listen to my iPod when I run and bike, as well as most of the day at work. So I needed a set that would be good for an active life style, fit comfortably, and sound great. I picked up a set of these and I feel like I hit the jackpot. They fit perfectly and sound great. I don't have an iPhone. I have an iPod Classic. So I don't use the microphone. But the headphones are by far the best I have used.

"Works, but there are design issues" 2009-08-20

It's hard to tell when the sensor goes to sleep, and when, after pressing the wake button, if it's actually awake. A LED would be nice. Otherwise, it has worked as described.

I bought it. It does what it is supposed to. Nothing spectacular. Works and synced with my iPod Touch 2nd generation. Nike+ is neat.

What else can I say? I'm using it in a non-Nike shoe with a small pouch tied to the shoelaces.

 "Not Pleased" 2009-07-20
By Tanya C. Miller (Austin, TX)
I have yet to be able to link this gadget with my 2G Ipod Touch. There is no way to tell if the unit is awake or asleep. I would rather spend a little more money and have a product that I can a) tell if it's on b) replace the battery on.

Better luck next time, Apple.

 "Works great for me." 2009-07-12
By Peter Godoy (San Diego, CA)
I bought this without having too high of expectations for it. I was very pleased with the product after using it for a couple weeks. I do not have the nike+ shoes that hold the sensor, I made a pouch to keep in in and attached it to the shoes with the laces. I went for a 1.5 mile run according to the mapmywalk website. When I uploaded my run to the nikeplus website it said it was a 1.7 mile run. I drove the route with my car and it was 1.5. There was an option to calibrate your sensor after the run. I knew it was 1.5 not 1.7 so I changed it. Ever since then it has been tracking very accurately. When you plug in your IPhone 3GS in my case, iTunes automatically sends your run information to the nikeplus site, which I had to create an account at earlier. That site is quite useful, it will graph your run time and distance, has a place to create goal or challenges for yourself and has an active community that you can interact with. I believe this product is well worth the price.

"Great 3rd Party Replacement Product" 2009-08-19
By N. Watts (Central Coast, CA)
Although the packaging and item itself claim to be designed by Apple, it is definitely a 3rd party replica -- I knew this purchasing and was actually presently surprised. Beside the cord being slightly off-white vs. the original Apple version, this is a great copy of the original. No problems charging or syncing my iPhone 3G whatsoever. I recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to pay $19.99 for a true Apple accessory. I like Apple, but love saving money more.

 "Nice Connector....but...." 2009-07-31
By Stephen D. Payne (Berrien Springs, MI United States)
This is a nice connector, a great price....but it is not as it appears in the photograph, nor is it a genuine Apple product, as other reviewers note; would rate it higher were it not for that misrepresentation of the provenance/manufacture of the cable.

"Does not work as stated" 2009-07-08
By J. Youm (Santa Clara, CA)
Pros: The product does allow the iPhone 3G to be charged, but the plug gets pretty warm compared to using the original cable.

Cons: The product does NOT allow you to sync the iPhone, which makes this product quite useless.

Cons: It also looks very much like an imitation product. Guess you gotta pay the full $17 to enjoy the benefits of a real product.

"fully functional and not at all authentic" 2009-06-02
By Mary L. Mcgough (La Jolla, California)
I didn't start out a tightwad. I already bought a spare cable for $20 at the Apple store. Someone ripped it off from my desk at work. LAME. I am not made of money so I had to find a less expensive replacement. Enter: Amazon!

The quasi Apple-like packaging with a prominent 'Made in China' sticker product arrived in the mail a few days ago. Fast shipping? Absolutely. Safe wrapping too: they used bubble wrap and taped it up carefully so no shipping damage.

It works with my iPhone 3G for charging and syncing which is what I care about. If you can overlook the faux packaging you can get yourself a nice cable for a lot less $.

Some reviewers have given low marks saying it is not an Apple product. I don't know if it is or not, but after buying 4 of these I do know that they work -- both for charging and data transfer. And they are cheap.
